Mundelein, Illinois, May 3, 2007 – Sysmex America, Inc., a subsidiary of Sysmex
Corporation, Kobe, Japan, hosted the grand opening of its newly constructed $12 million reagent manufacturing facility in Mundelein, Illinois, the company’s U.S. headquarters, according to John Kershaw, President, Sysmex America Inc.  Sysmex’s corporate president, Mr. Hisashi Ietsugu, from Kobe, Japan and officials from the Village of Mundelein were present during today’s facility opening ceremony.

"The opening of Sysmex America’s reagent manufacturing facility marks a definitive milestone in our company’s strategic initiatives to serve our hematology customers through a single point-of-contact.  The new facility substantially increases our company’s current reagent production capacity here in the United States – crucial as demand for Sysmex hematology products continues to rise.  The facility’s state-of-the-art manufacturing technology enables Sysmex America’s continued devotion to product quality,” said Kershaw.  The company now begins centralizing its operations in Mundelein with the closure of its existing California reagent plant slated for June 2008.

Sysmex America’s centralization will make it easier to plan and control supply distribution.  The facility’s location in the middle of the United States will reduce reagent transportation costs and will allow Sysmex America to respond more quickly to customer needs or issues.  This new facility also represents an investment to Symex America’s continued growth in the United States, particularly in Illinois.

The 53,755 square foot building, which is situated on the same campus as Sysmex America’s corporate office building, is owned by Sysmex Reagents America, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sysmex America, Inc.  The U.S. office of Takenaka Corporation, the first construction company to ever win the Deming Prize and the Nippon Quality Control Medal in recognition of their company’s Total Quality Management efforts, managed the facility’s architects and project construction.

“Sysmex America would like to thank the Village of Mundelein and its cooperative agencies and the Green Oaks, Libertyville, Mundelein, Vernon Hills Area (GLMV) Chamber of Commerce, among others, for their support before and during the facility’s construction,” added Kershaw.

Sysmex offers hematology, urinalysis, coagulation instrumentation and reagents, in addition to laboratory work area management systems and a web-based physician portal solution.
