Sysmex is deeply committed to continually developing and applying advanced technologies to benefit our customers and society. A major technological accomplishment is our patented fluorescent flow cytometry. Sysmex developed this method of measuring fluorescence from cells in suspension that are stained with Sysmex polymethine dye. A semi-conductive laser activates the dye. As the cells flow through a narrow orifice, cell size is measured by forward scattered light, internal cellular complexity by side scattered light, and nucleic acid content by fluorescent intensity.
