Inova Health System Awards Contract to Sysmex America for Enterprise-wide Integrated Hematology Systems

Mundelein, Illinois – December 13, 2007 – Sysmex America, Inc., a global leader in hematology diagnostic systems and Inova Health System, Northern Virginia’s leading not-for-profit health care provider, serving more than one million people annually in the metropolitan Washington, DC area, announced today that Inova Health System has signed a contract to purchase Sysmex hematology analyzers, automation systems, reagents and middleware.

Inova will replace its existing equipment with Sysmex hematology instruments to process approximately 5,000 laboratory test orders per day across 10 facilities. The Sysmex solution includes the full range of Sysmex hematology analyzers, five automation systems and the CellaVision™ DM96 digital morphology system. All systems and equipment will connect to a single enterprise-wide middleware system, Sysmex’s MOLIS WAM, which will interface to Inova’s two laboratory information systems (LISs) to provide the laboratory enterprise wide data management including delta checking and auto-validation.

The Sysmex solution will help Inova achieve its strategic business objectives including lowering review rates, improving turnaround time and enhancing staff education. After carefully considering several vendors, Inova’s decision to select Sysmex was based on technology, reagent standardization, service, training and overall cost effectiveness.
