Lincolnshire,
Ill. (Feb. 17, 2016) Sysmex America, Inc., a global leader in automated
hematology diagnostics, today announced the launch of two new educational
sections on its website that can provide vital information to clinicians,
physicians and laboratory professionals. The sections, www.sysmex.com/acpclinician and
www.sysmex.com/acplab, include case studies, videos,
webinars and scientific data about Sysmex Advanced Clinical Parameters (ACPs),
which are sophisticated laboratory tests that provide additional information about
the state of blood cells. ACPs expand the Complete Blood Count (CBC) laboratory
test and aid in the detection of several hematological conditions.
“The clinicians
and physicians who are already using our ACPs have found them helpful in
detecting and differentiating a wide variety of hematological conditions,
including anemia, infection, inflammation and potentially life-threatening
conditions,” said Jolanta Kunicka, Ph.D., director scientific marketing.
“Sysmex
places a very high priority on education, and these new sections of our website
are part of our growing portfolio of educational tools,” she said. Kunicka’s scientific marketing department is
comprised of registered nurses who work collaboratively with clinicians and
laboratorians using these clinical parameters to provide better patient care. The
new website sections include a wide variety of information about Sysmex ACPs:
Infection and
Inflammation: How
advanced quantitative measurement of Immature Granulocyte (IG) populations may identify
left shift and improve the assessment of infections and inflammation. According
to the new laboratorians section, there is an incremental savings associated with automated accurate IG
count versus traditional manual methodologies.
Erythropoiesis and Anemia
Management: How to
evaluate and monitor acute changes in hemoglobinization
at the cellular level for earlier detection of iron deficiency anemia using
Reticulocyte Hemoglobin (RET-He). This advanced parameter has been
used by physicians in identifying and managing anemia in high risk populations such as young children, patients
with chronic disease, pre-surgical patients
and cancer patient populations.
Thrombopoiesis: How Immature Platelet Fraction (IPF) can
be used to more specifically assess and monitor thrombocytopenia, particularly
in cancer and pediatric patients.
