Company meets increasing demand in the Americas with newly-modernized manufacturing facility and sales office servicing customers in Latin America

Lincolnshire, Ill. - July 31, 2017 - Sysmex America, Inc. (SAI), a leading provider of automated hematology and urinalysis diagnostic testing equipment, and middleware information systems technology, held a formal dedication ceremony for its recently-expanded reagent manufacturing facility in Mundelein, Ill. “Sysmex America has exhibited double-digit growth in recent years. The expansion and modernization of the Sysmex Reagents America (SRA) manufacturing plant is a $24 million investment in the long-term growth of this region. Building upon the innovation of our analyzers, we look forward to SAI’s continued success,” said Mr. Hisashi Ietsugu, chairman and CEO of Sysmex Corporation.

“SAI is also celebrating the recent launch of a number of new hematology analyzers on the market which may generate immediate need for increased reagents. The SRA reagent facility will help us to continue to supply our customers in the U.S., Canada and parts of Latin America through the next decade with the high-level of products and service that they have come to expect from us,” said Ralph Taylor, CEO of SAI.

The SRA expansion, under construction since the ground breaking in July 2015, will almost double the square footage and increase production capacity by nearly 80 percent. The factory represents Sysmex’s first initiative to incorporate IoT technology in the manufacturing environment by linking a manufacturing execution system (MES*)—a type of production management system—with manufacturing equipment. One example is enhancing productivity and quality by using mobile devices to monitor and control manufacturing equipment. The new equipment lessens the load on workers, while supporting environmental initiatives like paperless operations, and reducing emissions that have an environmental impact. The Mundelein, Illinois facility currently employees 64 full-time and contract staff.

Distinguished guests and speakers in attendance included local and state dignitaries and representatives, including Mundelein Mayor Steve Lentz, as well as the Consulate-General of Japan in Chicago, Mr. Naoki Ito. A commemorative tree was planted before the formal ribbon-cutting ceremony.

In addition to cutting the ribbon on the modernized reagent plant, Sysmex America opened the doors to a new office to support customers residing in Latin America. The new space resides approximately 15 miles outside of Miami in Doral, Fla....“Our new sales and customer support office will assist our Latin American affiliates in Brazil, Colombia, Chile and Mexico with their continued growth,” said Taylor.
