11/13/2019
12:00 PM to 1:00PM (Americas) Central Time (US & Canada)

Dr. Olga Pozdnyakova, MD, PhD, Associate Professor of Pathology, Harvard Medical School, Division of Hematopathology, Brigham & Women's Hospital, Boston, MA

This session will explore novel aspects of laboratory hematology that advance the diagnostic work-up of myeloid malignancies. A series of clinical case studies will be presented that highlight laboratory testing beyond the routine CBC. The examples and discussion will provide an overview of myeloid malignancy work-ups.

Objectives:

  • Discuss the diagnostic criteria for myelodysplastic syndrome
  • Formulate a comprehensive list of differential diagnoses for cytopenia that includes both, reactive and neoplastic conditions
  • Interpret the findings of dysplasia and myeloid-associated somatic mutations recognizing that their presence does not always lead to a diagnosis of myelodysplastic syndrome

This session provides 1 contact hour through P.A.C.E.® and the state of Florida. Sysmex America is approved as a provider of continuing education programs in the clinical laboratory sciences by the ASCLS P.A.C.E.® program.
