Maximizing Efficiency: Optimizing CellaVision Workflow in the Lab
Becky Socha, MLS III, MT(ASCP), Core Lab, Mercy Medical Center , Baltimore, MD

Automating work processes can be transformational but challenging for any laboratory. This presentation will illustrate how cell morphology technology can be used to improve efficiency, proficiency and connectivity. Case study examples will be outlined to highlight the clinical benefits of the automated technology.

Chuck the Glass: A Pathologist’s Challenge for the Hematology Laboratory
Janet Miles, MD, Senior Consulting Pathologist, ProPath/Sonic Healthcare & Medical Director, John Peter Smith Hospital, Fort Worth, TX

Digital pathology is a rapidly expanding technology in anatomic pathology with applications to the clinical laboratory. While medical laboratory scientists regularly utilize digital analysis of cell morphology in hematology, this practice is less widespread among pathologists providing peripheral smear reviews. The experience and outcomes following implementation of fully digital peripheral smear reviews in a large, safety net hospital laboratory will be discussed. Special emphasis and case studies on the advantages of digital peripheral smear reviews will be provided.

Digital Cell Morphology & Associated Case Studies
Magan Warren, BS, MT(ASCP), Market Support Manager, CellaVision

The session will introduce how digital imaging can help standardize and automate the most subjective area of the laboratory. The presenter will review esoteric case studies utilizing CellaVision’s digital imaging technology and discuss how it may improved TATs and patient care.
