Webinar | Neutrophils as a Clue to Disease: Recognizing True Abnormalities and Rethinking Bands
Date: February 25Time: 12-1 PM CT
Description
Neutrophils may appear straightforward, but their morphology provides important diagnostic clues in both benign and neoplastic conditions. This presentation will enhance your ability to recognize neutrophil abnormalities characteristic of myelodysplastic syndromes/neoplasms (MDS) as well as abnormal nuclear segmentation and cytoplasmic granulation patterns seen in inherited disorders, infections, and nutritional deficiencies. We'll also review the evidence supporting grouping bands with segmented neutrophils in differential counts.
Objectives
Participants will be able to recognize neutrophil morphologic abnormalities characteristic of myelodysplastic syndromes/neoplasms (MDS) and identify abnormal neutrophil nuclear segmentation and cytoplasmic granulation patterns associated with various disease states other than MDS. Finally, they will be able to explain the rationale for grouping bands with segmented neutrophils in differential counts.
